We arrived on the 27th of January in St. Thomas and caught the afternoon ferry to Tortola to spend the night on our 39 foot power cat.
As it turns out, the boat was brand new with less than 100 hours logged. We were thrilled with how comfortable, clean and spacious it was. The staff at the Moorings is amazing and graciously accommodating.
At 7 am Saturday morning, we had a very informative "ship orientation" and every detail of operation and usage was explained. We had opted to "bare boat" without a captain and crew. I was comfortable with the ease of operation and we had done our home work as far as charting a basic course to follow.
We also chose to take advantage or the provisioning option and our vessel was well stocked with food that we selected.....including liquor.
With our 8 ft. dingy and motor hoisted on the electric davit, we set out for Norman Island to start our amazing trip. We had plenty of time to snorkel the Caves and visit the famous Willie T.
The next morning we headed for Cooper Island and moored just off the beach for a delightful morning. We were headed to the Baths on Virgin Gorda that afternoon but windy conditions resulted in us cruising on up to the Bitter End Yacht Club where we found a delightful mooring in the sheltered bay. We spent 2 wonderful nights exploring the area including the gardens at Saba Rock and seeing the Flamingos on Prickly Pear Island. We were also lucky enough to catch an amazing fireworks display in the harbor. Next morning we refilled our water tanks and ice supply at the docks.
The morning brought calmer seas so we headed back to the Baths for some snorkeling and exploration. That afternoon we crossed over to Trellis Bay and through the Camanoe Passage to Guana Island's "Monkey Point". We picked up a day mooring for some snorkeling.

Around the bend off Guana is the beautiful White Bay. There are no overnight moorings so we decided to try out our anchoring skills. It was easy with the ample chain and remote control. After inspecting our anchor position with mask and snorkel, we took the dinghy to the most incredible strip of beach you can imagine.
We cooked a fabulous dinner of steak and corn on the barbeque and enjoyed a star filled sky and a great nights sleep. Up anchor in the morning, and on to Jost Van Dyke.
Great Harbor in Jost Van Dyke is the home of Foxy's. We were lucky enough to pick up a well located mooring and settle in for the day and night. We got to meet the legendary Foxy and enjoyed a great dinner and some "Pain Killers" and danced to some great music provided by their friendly DJ.
In the morning, we set of to nearby Green Cay. There we dropped anchor and explored the quintessential Caribbean Isle. |

Sopers Hole was our next stop. The shopping and dining was terrific and we planned our next day to replenish our water supply and then cruise around Frenchman's Cay and down to the Indians.
We had heard the snorkeling at the Indians was fantastic and we were not disappointed. There are a handful of day moorings and we grabbed one close enough to snorkel right off the boat to the famous rocks and coral formations.
Our last night was spent in Great Harbor, Peter Island. We had a feast with the remaining provisions and recounted the events and experiences of the week.
Early morning departure, back to the Moorings Dock in Road Harbour. Upon announcing our arrival we were directed to the fuel dock for refueling and debriefing. The Moorings staff was once again delightful to work with and made our departure smooth and easy. We even made the 10 am ferry back to St. Thomas.
For the Shulman's and the Jordano's, this was an incredible trip. The entire experience exceeded our wildest expectations. Thanks again to Joann Higgins and the Moorings staff.
