- Lagoon is installing new
diesel engines into
Horizons' 420's, so that you
will be able to enjoy all
the features of the 420,
coupled with the
reliability, power (over 8
knots), and fuel efficiency
(2 gallons total per hour at
8 knots) of the Yanmar
diesel engines. With the
conversion to diesel engines
on our Lagoon 420's, we are
anticipating not only more
power under motor, but also
under sail. The electric
motor 3 bladed props will be
replaced by much lower drag
2 bladed props, and with the
removal of a ton (literally)
of redundant batteries, the
420 will be able to lift her
transom and kick her heels!
The Lagoon
420 catamaran, with diesel
propulsion, benefits from
wide uncluttered decks and
stable motion underway,
allowing easy movement
around the yacht both under
sail and at anchor. The
design of the helm station
allows the yacht to be
sailed short handed, with
all sailing control lines
leading to electric winches
easily operated from the
helm position. Wide transom
steps and swim ladders,
makes access to the dinghy
or a dip in the sea, very
easy.
The rigid bimini top gives
terrific protection from the
Sun (and those occasional
Caribbean showers) whilst
giving easy access to the
entire length of the boom to
add the finishing touches
for stowing the mainsail
into the "lazy bag".
The interior exudes French
flair in a sophisticated but
understated manner. The
light oak Alpi joinery sets
off the natural hues of the
upholstery and the ergonomic
“galley up” design with
stainless steel work
surfaces, double sinks,
triple hob, oven and
spacious refrigerator and
freezer adds to a very
social saloon area. This
area opens up through large
companionway sliding doors
to the cockpit giving an
inside/ outside living area
and fine surroundings for al
fresco dining.
Four air conditioned,
spacious and equally sized
double cabins with en suite
heads and showers, ensures
that everyone aboard is
accommodated in luxury.
