We hope your charter lived up to your expectations and we are eager to have your evaluation and impressions of your yachting vacation. Please answer the following questions and add any comments you may have.

1. Were the staff at CYOA friendly and accommodating?

Yes. Very thorough in briefing. Had some suggestions about boat and they weren't too receptive and indicated that all was normal part of boating

2. Was the yacht clean and in good working condition?

Yes

3. Was the yacht's cooking and cleaning equipment sufficient?

Could have used larger skillet for 8 people. Plastic wine glasses be nice. No deck brush. Only cleaning equipment was small bottle dish washing soap.

4. Was the boat well ventilated?

Yes

5. Did the staff at CYOA do a good job familiarizing you with the yacht and it's equipment?

Was OK though didn't advise us about need to flake anchor chain, confusing which was fridge vs freezer

6. Did you like the area you cruised?

USVI was nice. SCUBA people enjoyed as did sailors. Went to St Croix which was nice trip

7. Could we at Virgin Island Sailing, Ltd. have helped you further in any way?

No; in fact you purchased St Croix charts since CYOA declined to provide

BAREBOAT CHARTER REVIEW

Name: Capt. Jack Geier
Yacht: Mahe 36 Evolution (2011 model) with CYOA Yacht Charters - Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas
Charter Dates:
12/29/11 - 1/5/12
Broker:
Melody Delgado
Area Cruised:
Virgin Islands

We hope your charter lived up to your expectations and we are eager to have your evaluation and impressions of your yachting vacation. Please answer the following questions and add any comments you may have.

1. Were the staff at CYOA friendly and accommodating?

Yes, but the woman at the front desk was fairly short - may not be the best "meet and greet" peson, although she did warm up

2. Was the yacht clean and in good working condition?

Yes

3. Was the yacht's cooking and cleaning equipment sufficient?

Yes

4. Was the boat well ventilated?

Yes, but the head stunk pretty badly when the valve was opened.

5. Did the staff at CYOA do a good job familiarizing you with the yacht and it's equipment?

Kind of. We were not verbally told that no TP was to go in the head, and this resulted in a $100 deduction of the deposit.

6. Did you like the area you cruised?

Yes - had to do again we would not choose St. Thomas, as it was so far to one end of the cruising area,

7. Could we at Virgin Island Sailing, Ltd. have helped you further in any way?

VI Sailing was fantastic and I appreciated all the help (and iterations with boat selection).

8. May we post this review on our website?

Yes

9. Additional comments on your charter?

We enjoyed the boat immensely and the VI staff was very helpful. I would use CYOA again but only if they were located somewhere else - we will try to depart from a more central location next time, as St. Thomas required a beat into the wind for the first couple days. I was a bit put out on the boat check in/out time requirements. I feel that this should be done on CYOA's time, not on ours. The boat costs around $750/day, and we lost 3 hours of our first day for a checkout and 2 hours of our last day for a check in...this doesn't seem like a fair procedure and I hope to negotiate it away next time. Particularly with a 12:00 start and a 4:30 anchoring requirement, it leaves little over an hour on the first day to get anywhere. Leaving from St. Thomas this severely restricts destinations on that first night, effectively cutting off one of the crusing days. Thanks for all of your help through the rental process! Melody and Mallorie were both very friendly, patient and helpful. Cheers!

8. May we post this review on our website?

9. Additional comments on your charter?

The Jeaneau 44i is a great cruising boat. Sails very well and is very comfortable. Our family of 5, all adults and one teenager, spent almost 2 days moored at Byras Creek and Bitter End while TS Eileen blew by and it was close quarters, but very comfortable. We did some scuba diving from the boat and the deck area was adequate for four divers to suit up at once. Tanks mounted well and out of the way of the jib on deck and Admiralty Dive shop did a great job of delivering good equipment on time. Really enjoyed the trip.

We hope your charter lived up to your expectations and we are eager to have your evaluation and impressions of your yachting vacation. Please answer the following questions and add any comments you may have.

1. Were the staff at CYOA friendly and accommodating?

Yes, they answered all our questions and were very thorough.

2. Was the yacht clean and in good working condition?

Everything was clean and in working order.

3. Was the yacht's cooking and cleaning equipment sufficient?

Yes, but they should have provided head deodorizer since the boat uses salt water flush.

4. Was the boat well ventilated?

Yes

5. Did the staff at CYOA do a good job familiarizing you with the yacht and it's equipment?

Yes

6. Did you like the area you cruised?

Absolutely, espeically the trip to Anagada (our first)

7. Could we at Virgin Island Sailing, Ltd. have helped you further in any way?

No

8. May we post this review on our website?

Yes

9. Additional comments on your charter?

We were impressed with the thoroughness of the check in and check out procedures at CYOA. The boat was 3 years old, but in very good condition. The Jeanneau 45DS ("Chinook") was origianlly outfitted for Chesapeake so didn't have exactly the right sails for BVI and it had the shoal keel, but it sailed nicely in 10-22kt winds once we figured out the best sail size (reefing) for main and jib. We especially liked the generator and AC, even though we burned more fuel than we ever have on a 10 day charter!

We hope your charter lived up to your expectations and we are eager to have your evaluation and impressions of your yachting vacation. Please answer the following questions and add any comments you may have.

1. Were the staff at CYOA friendly and accommodating?

All very nice !

2. Was the yacht clean and in good working condition?

Yes. There was only that hot water heater pipe leak issue that wet my bed 5 days into the cruise. We had to shut the hotwater off completely...

3. Was the yacht's cooking and cleaning equipment sufficient?

Yes

4. Was the boat well ventilated?

Yes... but we couldn't leave windows open because of bugs. Screens would be nice...

5. Did the staff at CYOA do a good job familiarizing you with the yacht and it's equipment?

yes

6. Did you like the area you cruised?

Yes...Perfect !

7. Could we at Virgin Island Sailing, Ltd. have helped you further in any way?

Would have liked to know earlier which areas CYOA didn't want us to go to...

8. May we post this review on our website?

Yes

9. Additional comments on your charter?

The AC was very unbalanced (very cold on one side, barely cold on the other) and the generator / AC very noisy for the occupants of the port side rear cabin. I had actually asked which was the best cabin beforehand, since I was the captain... I was told "both sides are the same". I discovered later that the starboard cabin was the best since the bed wasn't right over an AC unit, a hot water heater AND on the same side as the generator... I learned how to sleep through the noise...it was too late to change cabins since we arrived last. I'll be arriving first next time...

9. Additional comments on your charter?

Even though it rained every day, and we had only one day of sunny sailing, we still had a good time. The boat and it's ammenities allowed us to be comfortable and safe. The crew at CYOA where helpful in helping us get everything together. Virgin Island Sailing was very helpful in the hand holding process that's inherent in all the pre-trip planning. We look forward to planning out next charter very soon. Kb

We hope your charter lived up to your expectations and we are eager to have your evaluation and impressions of your yachting vacation. Please answer the following questions and add any comments you may have.

1. Were the staff at CYOA friendly and accommodating?

Very

2. Was the yacht clean and in good working condition?

the yacht was very clean, there was a slight showing of age, nothing more than expected aof a yacht of this age. The lounge chairs were worn and unsafe and was pointed out on return

3. Was the yacht's cooking and cleaning equipment sufficient?

very but hardly used

4. Was the boat well ventilated?

yes

5. Did the staff at CYOA do a good job familiarizing you with the yacht and it's equipment?

yes, though I may have insinuated knowing more than I should as to some of the boats indeosyncracies, I was well informed

6. Did you like the area you cruised?

very much and would enjoy returning

7. Could we at Virgin Island Sailing, Ltd. have helped you further in any way?

nothing that comes to mind. The trip was easier because of your efforts than I would have expected.

8. May we post this review on our website?

Yes

9. Additional comments on your charter?

I would have to rate the experience as a 95 on a scale of a hundred. Where I ran aground was marked on the maps and discussed not to enter but was confusing because of new dredge of a harbor which was not shown. I say this to warn others of changes to maps and current conditions.

BAREBOAT CHARTER REVIEW

Name: Mr. and Mrs. John Northwood
Yacht: Belize 43 (3 cabin) with CYOA Yacht Charters - Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas
Charter Dates:
2/11/11-2/23/11
Broker:
Joann Higgins
Area Cruised:
Virgin Islands

We hope your charter lived up to your expectations and we are eager to have your evaluation and impressions of your yachting vacation. Please answer the following questions and add any comments you may have.

1. Were the staff at CYOA friendly and accommodating?

Overall, yes, very. Only problem was the lady at the reception desk very ornery -had a hard time convincing her to call us a cab! (it was unanimous that she had some sort of problem)

2. Was the yacht clean and in good working condition?

Yes, beautiful boat and great layout. All important equipment in perfect working order. Some minor issues: oven not working, salt water pump not working, leaking dingy...but overall very satisfactory.

3. Was the yacht's cooking and cleaning equipment sufficient?

Cooking-yes. Garlic press would be nice. Cleaning-god no. Two dish cloths for two weeks. We had to purchase extra dish cloths and towels plus a floor mop.

4. Was the boat well ventilated?

Yes overall. No need for the air cond. However, front berths with very foul odors...person assigned to sleep in one refused to and slept on the couch.

5. Did the staff at CYOA do a good job familiarizing you with the yacht and it's equipment?

Yes, very thourough. Skipper Daniel was super.

6. Did you like the area you cruised?

Absolutely!! Loved every minute of it. Anegada...well, kind of asked ourselves why we went there. Hoped to see pink flamingos but that was not on...they are very remote. Water there is murky. Sailing there however was really a nice experience.

7. Could we at Virgin Island Sailing, Ltd. have helped you further in any way?

No...you were fantastic!! Great comunication. Might have liked more pics of the boat up front, otherwise very well handled-thanks!!

8. May we post this review on our website?

Yes

9. Additional comments on your charter?

Every thing was super. The 'check out' process is very important because generally you are tired from cleaning/packing, stressed and sad to be leaving. It was a breath of fresh air to have such a pleasant gentleman from CYOA handle this with us in such a calm, friendly way. Wish we were aware of the customs (separate building - taxi required) requirement. Wish we received much more linen/towels/rags for a two week charter- this would also benefit the upkeep of the boat as it would be easier to clean and keep clean the floors, etc. A spray bottle of vinegar/water would allow us to clean the windows on route and would be cheap to supply. Water tank guage was a little unreliable. Inability to select speakers was always an issue as some of us wanted music out on deck and others wanted quiet reading below deck...could not control speakers to have music only out of upper speakers, slightly dampening the fun. Some sort of rack placed on the bottom level of fridge would help save some food from the water buildup...always draining it but still had food damage from the liquid. Otherwise, we will definitely use your company - VISailing- again as this was so very helpful and pleasant. Lovely boat you found for us.

1. Were the staff at CYOA friendly and accommodating?

Yes.

2. Was the yacht clean and in good working condition?

There was a problem with the sanitation system that prevented us from using the V-berth the first night. Efforts of the CYOA staff helped, but it took more than a week for the major smells to dissipate. It was a good thing that we had only 2 couples for the charter

3. Was the yacht's cooking and cleaning equipment sufficient?

Yes - worked very well, including the refrigeration system.

4. Was the boat well ventilated?

Yes, except for the problems with the head in the V-berth.

5. Did the staff at CYOA do a good job familiarizing you with the yacht and it's equipment?

Yes.

6. Did you like the area you cruised?

We certainly did.

7. Could we at Virgin Island Sailing, Ltd. have helped you further in any way?

At our arrival Doc, if I misspell his name I apoligize, asked me about anything that may needs to be taken care of and I forgot to tell him that I cut my finger with one of the rings that holds the pings that opens the lines that give access to the transom of the catamaran. I belive that those rings must have a piece of nylon for easy pull and opening, but they must have wear off and when I pulled the ring down the end of it deeply scrach my thumb.

BAREBOAT CHARTER REVIEW

Name: Mr. Barry Lemon
Yacht: Mainship 390 with CYOA Yacht Charters - Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas
Charter Dates:
7/18/10 - 8/1/10

The staff were not only friendly they had a very clear wish that their customers enjoyed their time on board.

2. Was the yacht clean and in good working condition?

It was clean and minor problems were attended to or honestly explained before handover.

3. Was the yacht's cooking and cleaning equipment sufficient?

More than sufficient, but we were only two on a 5 berth boat. I estimate however that it was enough for a full crew.

4. Was the boat well ventilated?

Ventilation was possible but at this time Air Conditioning is essential this functioned well although expensive with generator.

5. Did the staff at CYOA do a good job familiarizing you with the yacht and it's equipment?

They were extremely mindfull of their clients abilities and the type of boat they were offering

6. Did you like the area you cruised?

Very much although, I'm sure, Dec - April we would have had problems mooring.

7. Could we at Virgin Island Sailing, Ltd. have helped you further in any way?

I'm very satisfied with what you have done for me.

8. May we post this review on our website?

Yes

9. Additional comments on your charter?

This was my first experience of Bareboat chartering and could, despite my own preparation with practical and theory training, have been a very anxious time for me. The professional way in which you and the charter firm managed my holiday gave me absolute confidence and allowed me to focus on what mattered and that is enjoying and learning by doing. Although you can Island hop in this area using only line of site, we plotted our routes directly onto the chart manually and it is so rewarding when you find your calculations convert into safe passage to the next overnight point. I will certainly Bareboat again and probably with this team depending on venue. Best Regards Barry Lemon

BAREBOAT CHARTER REVIEW

Name: Mr. Mark Kranz
Yacht: Bahia 46 (2004 model) with CYOA Yacht Charters - Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas
Charter Dates:
4/10/10 - 4/17/10

Yes, all were friendly and helpful.

2. Was the yacht clean and in good working condition?

The yacht was clean and for the most part in good working condition. The two bow speakers didn't work, which was disappointing. The drain pipe in one of the sinks in a heads was not hooked up, so the water was going straight into the waste basket under the sink. We didn't notice it until the waste basket started to spill over. The tender had a hole in the bottem which was hard to identify during the check out process, but a new one was promply brought to us in Christmas Cove which is where we discovered the hole.

3. Was the yacht's cooking and cleaning equipment sufficient?

Yes, very good.

4. Was the boat well ventilated?

Yes

5. Did the staff at CYOA do a good job familiarizing you with the yacht and it's equipment?

Yes

6. Did you like the area you cruised?

It was great. We particularly liked Jost Van Dyke.

7. Could we at Virgin Island Sailing, Ltd. have helped you further in any way?

I feel VI Sailing did a good job and I would charter from them again.

8. May we post this review on our website?

Yes

9. Additional comments on your charter?

Overall our experience was very good.
