I have the highest compliments for the Virgin Island Sailing group. Melody was available, helpful in every way, and thorough in assuring that our charter went perfectly. She researched several different options and helped us secure the perfect charter for our family.
Regarding Horizon Yacht charters, they handled everything professionally and competently. We encountered a problem when I inadvertently ran over a floating mooring line and damaged the propeller. The staff from Horizon motored to our mooring on Virgin Gorda within an hour with all needed parts and replaced the propeller without delay. They were just great in providing for the best possible solution.
I recommend the Virgin Island Sailing group and Horizon Yacht charters wholeheartedly.

Yes.

Yes, very clean. Only GPS and lock did not not work well, but those are not indispensable.

Pretty much. Only noticeable mising item was a toaster (simple camp stove style would be good enough).

I would definitely recommend both Horizon and Virgin Island Sailing to anyone. Horizon's service was second to none and the boat was amazing. Any problem was promptly taken care of. And Virgin Island did a great job finding the bes boat and maintained great communication throughout the whole process.

yes but dragging our suitcases up a flight of stairs to their office was not great since we had not acclimated to the heat yet
2. Was the yacht clean and in good working condition?
some instruments did not work and had to be replaced, the windows leaked (needed ro be resealed), fan in sleep cabin broken
3. Was the yacht's cooking and cleaning equipment sufficient?
yes
4. Was the boat well ventilated?
the portholes opened but when closed they leaked a lot when it rained so we had to keep them closed and use towels to pressure close them
5. Did the staff at Horizon Tortola do a good job familiarizing you with the yacht and it's equipment?
not quite, the GPS was quircky and we did not fully understand even at end of cruise though we have one on our boat that does work
6. Did you like the area you cruised?
magnificent, next time we will start at Cane Garden Bay!

you guys are great! this was our second time, no reason to change a winning combination.

All in all, it was a wonderful trip. Last time we used Conch Charters, and their attitude was much more laid back than Horizon which added a subtle and yet noticible layer of stress due to all their rules, regulations, and warnings. I think next time we will go back to Conch. We wanted to try a new boat but found that in reality it all depends on the maintenance of the vessel regardless of its age. Horizon was not particularly meticulous in their maintenance as claimed.

The Nanny Cay Hotel had very nice rooms at a good price, but the staff is in serious need of an attitude adjustment. I stayed there a total of five nights, and apparently they were doing me a big favor by having me.
However, I would certainly use Horizon again, and Virgin Island Sailing.

yes with some minor exceptions (windex, knotmeter, vegitable peeler, and dingy padlock)

yes, a gas BBQ would have been nice...(rather than charcoal), the cleaning supplies they provided were great to have.
4. Was the boat well ventilated?
yes, one breeze booster was provided, really helped!
5. Did the staff at Horizon do a good job familiarizing you with the yacht and it's equipment?
Yes, except for the fuel tank was smaller than listed and not connected to the fuel gauge.
6. Did you like the area you cruised?
Love the BVI

It was great to be able to call with all our questions!

Although we had several problems (engine trouble, torn sails, more engine trouble, yet more engine trouble) that required calling in to the base, the staff was great about fixing things in a timely manner and were cheerful and professional. The engine trouble necessitated an itinerary change and meant we did not get to Jost this trip which was disappointment. It makes a good excuse to return, though, and we would be happy to charter through VI sailing and Horizon again.
