The Moorings Tahiti Itinerary

The Moorings - Tahiti


Sample Itinerary: 7 Days

Day 1: CHARTER START - 6 nautical miles After chart briefing and orientation, depart for Tahaa, sailing inside the reef to Motu Mahaea for a good snorkeling and relax afternoon. Anchor in Au bay for the night.

Day 2: Bora Bora to Motu Tupe - 30 nautical miles : Leave early for a 5-hour reach to Bora-Bora's west shore. Anchor at Motu Tupe, swimming and snorkeling in the most beautiful lagoon.

Day 3: Explore Bora Bora - 8 nautical miles then 5 nautical miles: By early in the morning, discover the traditional lagoonarium where you could swim with turtles, friendly rays, sharks and different kind of fish. In the afternoon sail down to southern shore of Bora Bora and explore the magnificent coral garden.

Day 4: Explore Bora Bora - 13 nautical miles: Discover the lagoon of Bora-Bora under sail. This is a lagoon where you could happily spend the rest of your days contemplating the Pahia and Otemanu mountains. Anchor for the night close by the Bloody Mary's restaurant.

Day 5: Bora Bora to Raiatea - 30 nautical miles then 12 nautical miles (a early start for a very long day!) Back to the Moorings base Raiatea for re provisioning.

Day 6: Raiatea to Tahaa Island - 15 nautical miles Early in the morning, explore the Apoomao river by dinghy. An afternoon sail to Tahaa island and night anchor in Hurepiti bay on Tahaa's west shore.

Day 7: Tahaa Island to Apu Bay - 8 nautical miles Sailing inside the lagoon and stop at Motu Tautau for snorkeling. Back for the night in Apu Bay or take a mooring just off the marina Apooiti.

Final Morning: Return the boat before 10:00 a.m for the debriefing Call the base for a pilot. Plan a tour around the island or visit a pearl farm if you have a late flight.

Sample Itinerary: 10 Days

Day 1: CHARTER START - 4 nautical miles After chart briefing and orientation, depart for Tahaa, sailing inside the reef. Anchor in APU BAY for the night.

Day 2: Tahaa to Bora Bora - 33 nautical miles Leave early for a 5-hour reach to Bora-Bora's west shore. Anchor at Motu Tofari.

Day 3: Explore Bora Bora - 8 nautical miles A one-hour sail take you to the Bora-Bora hotel. Anchor just north of Point Raititi.

Day 4: Explore Bora Bora Explore the magnificent waters of the Bora-Bora Lagoon. Anchor for the night at the Bora-Bora Yacht Club.

Day 5: Bora Bora to Raiatea - 30 nautical miles then 12 nautical miles (a early start for a very long day!) Back to the Moorings base Raiatea for re provisioning.

Day 6: Explore Raiatea - 4 nautical miles then 2 nautical miles By early morning light, explore the Apoomao river by dinghy . An afternoon sail inside the lagoon will bring you to the village of Opoa. Anchor in Hotopuu Bay for the night.

Day 7: Raiatea to Huahine - 30 nautical miles Depart Raiatea for a 6-hour close reach to Huahine. Anchor in front of Fare village.

Day 8: Explore Huahine - 10 nautical miles Sail inside the reef to Bay d'Avea for good snorkeling.

Day 9: Huahine to Tahaa - 36 nautical miles Depart for an early morning sail back to Tahaa. Anchor in Haamene Bay for the night.

Day 10: Explore Tahaa Sail all the way around Tahaa. Inside the lagoon. Overnight anchorage in Apu Bay or better take a mooring just off the marina Apooiti

Final Morning: Return the boat before 10:00 a.m for the debriefing Call the base for a pilot. Plan a tour around the island or visit a pearl farm if you have a late flight.
