We hope your charter lived up to your expectations and we are eager to have your evaluation and impressions of your yachting vacation. Please answer the following questions and add any comments you may have.

1. Were the staff at Sunsail friendly and accommodating?

Yes. Everyone answered all my questions kindly, no matter how many times I asked them.

2. Was the yacht clean and in good working condition?

Yes, very clean. When we got on the boat the first night, still in the harbor, we noticed the air on one side of the boat wasnt working. We called to the front desk and they sent someone out within 30 min. It was a quick fix, very easy.

3. Was the yacht's cooking and cleaning equipment sufficient?

Yes, there was everything you could need. The only thing that wasnt as great as everything else was the frying pan - very hard to clean, not a great pan.

4. Was the boat well ventilated?

We were very comfortable on the boat. The air worked great every night and during the day we kept it off and just let the breeze cool us off.

5. Did the staff at Sunsail do a good job familiarizing you with the yacht and it's equipment?

The woman came and did a quick run through and answered all our questions. no complaints

6. Did you like the area you cruised?

YES! We stayed around the British Virgin Islands and it was amazing!!!!!!!

7. Could we at Virgin Island Sailing, Ltd. have helped you further in any way?

nope. One of the engines had a problem a few nights into the trip. We called and within an hour someone was there to fix it.

8. May we post this review on our website?

Yes

9. Additional comments on your charter?

We would certainly do this trip again with the same charter.

10. It is our pleasure to keep you informed of relevant specials / updates for your next charter. When do you plan to charter next?

9. Additional comments on your charter?

Negatives: (1) Freezer/fridge leaked entire trip & caused more than a few slips & falls. Had to constantly leave a towel on the floor of the salon in front of fridge. We noticed right away the 1st morning while in marina & Cpt Glenn even had Sunsail staff look at it but they had no solution. (2) Had to spend 1st TWO nights in marina rather than one b/c of storm Bertha. (3) Port side aft cabin overhead hatch leaked at night when it rained a few times. Dripped on my face & woke me up those nights so I had to turn around & put towel under hatch. Positives: (1) Cpt Glenn was fantastic with our two boys & kept them very involved in every facet of learning the aspects of sailing & maintaining big cats. (2) Boat sailed very nicely & handled well. (3) Every spot we stopped was beautiful, well maintained, not overly crowded & we were treated kindly by locals

We hope your charter lived up to your expectations and we are eager to have your evaluation and impressions of your yachting vacation. Please answer the following questions and add any comments you may have.

1. Were the staff at Sunsail friendly and accommodating?

ok, see below, plus we were a little rushed at the start and I would have liked a better orientation to the GPS system as I had never used one that new and sophisticated.

2. Was the yacht clean and in good working condition?

yes but the motor on the dinghy was tired and gave us trouble. It wouldn't idle and stalled.

3. Was the yacht's cooking and cleaning equipment sufficient?

yes

4. Was the boat well ventilated?

ok, but I wasn't a fan of the hatch placement though on the Jeanneau though.

5. Did the staff at Sunsail do a good job familiarizing you with the yacht and it's equipment?

6. Did you like the area you cruised?

OMG yes

7. Could we at Virgin Island Sailing, Ltd. have helped you further in any way?

not really

8. May we post this review on our website?

Yes

9. Additional comments on your charter?

We were upgraded to a Jeanneau 38 because there were no 36i's in operational shape. The boat we had, Chathham Bay, was in a slip on the 12th because I saw it there. We were told by Sunsail that we couldn't board until 6 PM because the boat we were getting had just come back that day and needed to be prepped. What they didn't know was that I knew that wasn't the truth because I had been in Road Town for a few days and had gone down to the docks a few times. I know that 6 PM is a rule but don't tell me something I know isn't true. They could have been quicker and gotten us on board faster if they wanted without lying to me. Also, when I booked with VISailing I had a choice of boats and I wish I had known which companies the boats were with. I now think that the Barvaria's were with Horizon as I saw no Barvaria's in Road Town but a bunch in Nanny cay. However, please know that I had the time of my life.

We hope your charter lived up to your expectations and we are eager to have your evaluation and impressions of your yachting vacation. Please answer the following questions and add any comments you may have.

1. Were the staff at Sunsail friendly and accommodating?

Yes, very friendly

2. Was the yacht clean and in good working condition?

The yacht was clean, but did have some mechanical issues. Chief of which was the non working bow thrusters, which on a 53' long boat was disappointing. We also had two electric winch failures during the cruise.

3. Was the yacht's cooking and cleaning equipment sufficient?

Yes, but the stove needs servicing/deep cleaning. The gas vents are blocked which made it difficult to keep alight.

4. Was the boat well ventilated?

Yes

5. Did the staff at Sunsail do a good job familiarizing you with the yacht and it's equipment?

Yes

6. Did you like the area you cruised?

7. Could we at Virgin Island Sailing, Ltd. have helped you further in any way?

I think that your service was very helpful. Looking back, I did wonder what our coverage would have been if there had been any boat damage (there wasn't, but I will won't to know the coverage for next time).

8. May we post this review on our website?

9. Additional comments on your charter?

I think having VISailing made me feel a lot more comfortable, in that we had a knowledgeable partner n the process.

No. You guys were great from start to finish. I liked the value local knowledge/experience brings. Good job!

8. May we post this review on our website?

9. Additional comments on your charter?

It really shows that the People and Authorities of the BVI care about the pristine nature of islands and the tourism business. Everyone at Sunsail was pleasant and very helpful. It's got to be a tough job readying the boats for the next charter, but even then, everyone took the time to say good morning or hello. And if you asked them something they didn't know the answer to, they didn't just say go ask "that guy", they actually took the time to find the right person for you.Thats service. You can tell Sunsail work hard at customer service. I was disappointed with the quality of the food and price in the Moorings restaurant. Not sure whats going on there. In my opinion you are much better paying for the taxi to go into Road Town and eat at any of the great local places. We asked the Taxi driver to make a recommendation and he didn't disappoint. "The Pub' was casual, friendly and served great food at a reasonable price. We were a large group and the waitress was a great laugh.

We hope your charter lived up to your expectations and we are eager to have your evaluation and impressions of your yachting vacation. Please answer the following questions and add any comments you may have.

1. Were the staff at Sunsail friendly and accommodating?

Yes, the staff at Sunsail were all very helpful

2. Was the yacht clean and in good working condition?

The boat was clearly well-used but very clean and everything was working. We had a problem wit hthe blower on the port engine while we were out but working with the base we resolved the issue.

3. Was the yacht's cooking and cleaning equipment sufficient?

Yes. We particularly loved the coffee-maker (and the generator so you could make coffee every morning!)

4. Was the boat well ventilated?

Yes. Plenty of hatches and 4 breeze boosters. We used the AC at the dock the first night

5. Did the staff at Sunsail do a good job familiarizing you with the yacht and it's equipment?

Yes, Tika was outstanding

6. Did you like the area you cruised?

We loved the BVI and hit all tge usual spots. We spent 2 days sailing around St. John and hit Trunk, Francis, Maho and Leinster Bay. We thought Leinster bay may be the most beautiful anchorage we'd ever been in - and the snorkling was awesome!

7. Could we at Virgin Island Sailing, Ltd. have helped you further in any way?

We used the water-taxi to avoid the last-day ferry ordeal. I would bet other folks would be interested in taking the water taxi.

8. May we post this review on our website?

Yes

9. Additional comments on your charter?

We had another great trip - our 4th in 6 years. We did enough up-front provisioning this trip that we didn't have to buy food anywhere. That saved time that we spent on the water. We liked the 4600. It was very spacious and sailed pretty well. Surprisingly it did well upwind. We just let her foot off. One thing we didn't expect (but should have) is how heavy the gear is on such a big boat. Thank goodness for an electric winch to help hoist the main. We still haven't made it out to Anegada. Next time for sure ;)

10. It is our pleasure to keep you informed of relevant specials / updates for your next charter. When do you plan to charter next?

We probably won't be doing another charter for 2 or 3 years. Both families are sending kids to college next year.

This was our one of our bucket list things to do. Before the trip, we read things like "Stunning beauty, relaxed sailing and endless activities surround you in the Virgin Islands. Bring an appreciation for diversity and find what you're looking for: " Well they are so right. We left Tortola headed the typical route to the bight at Normand we snorkeled the Indians all the first day. We found a mooring ball and settled in for the night. Willy-T's is a little sketchy but worth going just to say you went. The next day found us head to wind in a north westerly direction, straight down the middle of the sir Francis Drake Passage. "Oh so beautiful". The sailing was very good as we tacked up wind headed for the baths on Virgin Gorda. We were late getting there. No mooring balls left so we went way down from the site and anchored out. The snorkeling here is excellent. After a day of fun in the water and at the sun, we pulled up the hook and went for a mooring at Spanish town. As luck would have it, no moorings there either. They are only a few moorings here to begin with. Most of them are privet. At this point it was too late to make it to the Better end at great sound so we tried to set the anchor for the night. The winds picked up to a steady 20 to 25 with gust to 32. Setting the anchor was very difficult here the bottom was coral heads and hard sand. It took us a few tries but it finally set. The weather called for high winds and rough seas for the next 48 hours and boy were they right. The next morning we got up early to try and make the trip in time for a mooring ball at the Better end / SABA rock area. We motored into the head winds all the way around the point it Mosquito Island on one side and Neckler Island to the south. This passage afforded a great view of Branson's home being built on Mosquito Island to the west. My wife and I took a Scuba trip out of the better end yacht club. It was just amazing they took us out to Saddle bay at the point. Again the clarity in the water and the vibrant colors is just unreal. No photos can ever capture the nuances of being there in person. That evening we went to the SABA rock for a dining experience that you only ever see in magazines. I had the jumbo lobster, melt in your mouth goodness. We had a Very romantic night here. I gifted my beautiful wife a tanzanite ring as a show of love for our 30 year anniversary. The next day, Day 3, the weather was getting worse. We now had 35 mph steady winds with gust up to 43. That's right Gail force winds "Beaufort scale of 9" We took off and headed to trellis bay for a trip to pusser's lounge. Again all the moorings were occupied. We moved around to Marina cay and there was nothing there. We decided that the big island of Tortola would block some of the wind and we were early enough that we had plenty of time to make it to Foxy's at Great harbor Yost van Dyke. Once we made it threw the small pass to Monkey point, we had a great sail always down the length of Tortola. The views were nothing short of breath taking. From Little Camananoe over to Guana Island then we made it into protected waters. We still had 6 to 8 foot seas and 22 to 25 knots dead astern. With the following seas and the head sail out full for power we shut down the engine and maintained 6.5 knot's. It was a great run for me. It's the kind of sailing I was looking for but not so much the ladies on board. They wanted land. Next stop Foxy's We made it to foxy's in 4 1/2 hours from the Better end mooring field. We had no problem finding a mooring or a good cheese burger for that matter. We were at Foxy's on good Friday around 3:pm We tried to order some drinks to settle our nerves from the high seas and winds that tried us for the last 4 hours, however it was Good Friday and they don't sell alcohol drinks on holy days In the BVI. After a long night with little rest, what with the relentless high winds and rain we had all night we set off as ealy as we could. 8:30 or so. Our goal was to head to Soper's hole and stay for the day and maybe the night. Half way across the passage from Jost Van Dyke and the Soper's hole, my wife spotted the dinghy adrift around a mile and a half behind us. I was trying to out run a storm that was bearing down on us. I had to come about and go back for the dinghy. After the dinghy retrieval I headed back to Sopher's hols. I was heading straight for the storm. This storm looked to be 7 miles wide and very dark! It was not showing lighting, so that was a good thing. It was my first time facing a storm while under way. It was fun and scary at the same time. I knew I was in for a white knuckle ride. We made it to Sopher's to find it again full of boats on the way in we had no less than 8 or 10 boats racing for the hideaway hole. I gave up after 2 laps thru the field and decided to head back up the Southern side of Tortola to seek shelter. The storm was mostly past us at this time but it had had kicked the sea back up to 6 to 8 foot with white caps. I decided to head for the home base at Road Town. I was a day and a half early back to the marina. I figured if it cleared up we could always go back out for a day sail. After a crazy time trying to get docked in the rain, we finally had a dock hand jump on board and moored the boat back into her slip. I along with my whole crew was exhausted. We needed a drink "painkiller" and a shower. The following we hoped the ferry over to Peter Island and went snorkeling. We had a great lunch and spent some time on the beach. Peter Island is a very much a have to see place to believe. I can't wait to do this trip again. I think it will be much better with 14 days. 5 or 8 days is just not enough time to see it all and enjoy what each island has to offer. Thanks a million Melody Delgado & The Virgin Island Sailing Team What a great vacation. Curtis & Deb McDaniel Beaufort ,SC.

We hope your charter lived up to your expectations and we are eager to have your evaluation and impressions of your yachting vacation. Please answer the following questions and add any comments you may have.

1. Were the staff at Sunsail friendly and accommodating?

yes, very helpful.

2. Was the yacht clean and in good working condition?

Yes. Thruhull valve on head did not turn to closed position to pump to holding tank. Problem in protected areas like Tobago Cays. Roller furler very difficult to furl with any wind pressure. Knotmeter did not work last half of trip. Cockpit needs more cubbies, storage and cup holders. Dinghy and outboard worked very well. Very reliable.

3. Was the yacht's cooking and cleaning equipment sufficient?

Yes

4. Was the boat well ventilated?

Yes

5. Did the staff at Sunsail do a good job familiarizing you with the yacht and it's equipment?

Yes

6. Did you like the area you cruised?

7. Could we at Virgin Island Sailing, Ltd. have helped you further in any way?

The biggest problems we had was the discomfort with ocean swells hitting us abeam causing sea sickness on passages primarily on the PSV to Prickly Bay passage, which was 6 hours. I suggest that your chart briefer ask each party for rough itinerary and then recommended potential changes based on weather or sea conditions that would cause sea sickness or passage discomfort. If we had been warned about coming back to Prickly Bay on the East coast of Grenada, we would not have taken that route. We would have come down on the West coast.

Joanne suggested that we do not use Smiths ferry and in the end I used them - big mistake. we actually cancelled them for the return trip and used Tortola fast Ferry. Completely unreliable, deceptive, old dirty ferries - nothing good to say about them.

We hope your charter lived up to your expectations and we are eager to have your evaluation and impressions of your yachting vacation. Please answer the following questions and add any comments you may have.

1. Were the staff at Sunsail friendly and accommodating?

Yes, we found all the staff friendly, helpful, and on time. The before-sail chart briefing, however, was a fairly perfunctory PowerPoint. I think this presentation should be done by an experienced sailor who can do an informed Q&A.

2. Was the yacht clean and in good working condition?

Yes, the yacht exceeded our expectations. With the exception of one door handle, everything was ship shape. The motor always started, the dinghy always started, and the sails went up smoothly (once we learned to keep the stays from getting caught).

3. Was the yacht's cooking and cleaning equipment sufficient?

More than sufficient, though the pampered on board were yearning for a microwave. Given that we were only docked once in 10 days, that would have been a waste.

4. Was the boat well ventilated?

The forward cabin in the Jeanneau 38 has very limited ventilation. It was best to leave the door open.

5. Did the staff at Sunsail do a good job familiarizing you with the yacht and it's equipment?

Yes, they were superb. Julian checked us in with a thorough briefing, going over all the boat's operational details. We felt very comfortable after that.

6. Did you like the area you cruised?

Fantastic. How can you go wrong in the BVI. Favorite points were: Kelly's Cove, The Dogs, Cooper Island, Monkey Point, Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbor, Cane Garden, Diamond Cay, and Buttonwood Bay on Peter Island. The east winds were running higher than expected (20-25 knots), which made sailing north a challenge. If we had known, we would have planned a route with a bit more east-west sailing. We still were able to circumnavigate Tortola.

7. Could we at Virgin Island Sailing, Ltd. have helped you further in any way?

The staff and web site at VIS made our trip so much better, providing great information on how to prepare, what to pack, where to go, and how to have fun! All the communication was timely and efficient, and we always got prompt responses to our queries. For anyone interested in exploring the BVI, you cannot do better than to put your trust in VIS.

8. May we post this review on our website?

Yes

9. Additional comments on your charter?

What a fantastic experience. Everyone in our group commented on the attitude and professionalism of the Sunsail staff and on the exceptional working condition of the yacht. We have chartered elsewhere before, and always had trouble with various mechanical things on board. Not this time! What peace of mind you get from being able to trust the preparation of the yacht! VIS worked with us to pick the right boat, and we couldn't have been more pleased. The Jeanneau 38 is an outstanding vessel and very comfortable for four people. That said, we will probably move up to the 44i for our next charter: it has a much bigger engine and the salon is easier to navigate (not to mention the extra bathroom). Although the engine on the 38 was adequate, it was a challenge facing straight into the easterlies when trying to get up the channel in April. I think a more powerful engine would be appreciated for those times when we were exhausted from tacking and wanted to just motor the final leg.

10. It is our pleasure to keep you informed of relevant specials / updates for your next charter. When do you plan to charter next?

We hope to charter again next year in January or March. We spent some time on the dock visiting other yachts and were impressed by the 44i/3/3 from Sunsail as well as the 41/s from The Moorings. I know it sounds picky, but these yachts have galley layouts that are straight along the wall instead of in an L-shape that inhibits access to the forward cabin. We also found the table in the salon of the 38 to be too big--it makes it hard to actually get into the seats. Also, the cockpits on these larger vessels feature seating areas with higher backs--the ones on the 38 were too low. ALL the Sunsail and Mooring yachts provide the same hard cockpit cushions. Ouch. I think I'll bring a duffle with a couple of cushions next time!

We hope your charter lived up to your expectations and we are eager to have your evaluation and impressions of your yachting vacation. Please answer the following questions and add any comments you may have.

1. Were the staff at Sunsail friendly and accommodating?

Absolutely, except the bar tender in the pool bar the night we checked in. He was complete unaccommodating jerk!

2. Was the yacht clean and in good working condition?

Everything was very clean and organized

3. Was the yacht's cooking and cleaning equipment sufficient?

Yes, although a small bottle of Windex would be a nice addition, Heads should have been filled with a little sea water in the bowl, they were dry and it was a little smelly.

4. Was the boat well ventilated?

Excellent

5. Did the staff at Sunsail do a good job familiarizing you with the yacht and it's equipment?

The sleep aboard first night was the way to go. We waited too long for the morning boat brief and that was frustrating. Please tell people to stay clear of Bobby's provisioning service! I'm sure the store is fine but the provisioning service was horrible and almost ruined our trip. We had asked for a blender and that was not on board, no cooler either. Boat hook supplied was too short.
